Healthcare Data Usability Leader Abacus Insights Charts Its Growth With Appointment of New Chief Operating Officer

Boston, December 10, 2024—Abacus Insights, the leader in data usability for U.S. payers, today announced the promotion of John Pyhtila, PhD., Chief Product and Strategy Officer, to Chief Operating Officer, effective immediately. As COO, Pyhtila will oversee product, delivery and customer success, as well as client data engineering teams, and report to Abacus Insights Founder & CEO Minal Patel, MD.

“John has demonstrated the right balance between leadership, strategic vision, and commitment to Abacus Insights’ mission of delivering data that helps payers serve their members with better care and costs,” said Patel. “Bringing his considerable expertise in healthcare, data and operations to the role of COO, we are confident he will continue to fuel our growth, help us further expand, and deepen our impact.”

Patel reports that Abacus Insights will end 2024 nearly doubling its revenue from the previous year. Pyhtila’s promotion marks a pivotal step in the company’s growth plan as the data leader continues to scale, standardize, and optimize its workflows to deliver even greater value to its customers. Pyhtila will work closely with Abacus Insights Chief Technology Officer Navdeep Alam, who leads the product engineering team executing the company’s technical roadmap and driving innovation.

“Abacus Insights has carved out a unique position in the healthcare industry with a new standard of data usability that is transforming payers’ ability to reach their goals,” said Pyhtila. “As we enter our next phase, my focus on strengthening the alignment between our business strategy and day-to-day execution is intended to streamline interactions, touchpoints, and implementations across teams that will elevate our customer experience and outcomes.”
